Created for the Emmy award-winning film The Doctor, NBA TV's biopic about the life of Julius Erving, "The Doctor (Original Theme)" was co-written by J.PERIOD & James Poyser (The Roots), and produced by J.PERIOD. The Doctor traces the lines of Dr. J's personal and professional life, with guest appearances from fellow NBA icons Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, and Lebron James. J.PERIOD's original theme fuses an emotional, melodic score (for Erving's off-court story) with a high-energy, hip hop anthem (for Dr. J's on-court acrobatics), and has been praised as "innovative" and "unique" by Complex Magazine.
